Bartlesville Basketball Splits Home Opener
Bartlesville's girl's and boy's basketball teams opened up their home schedule on Tuesday night at Bruin Fieldhouse against Broken Arrow. The girls lost 52-38, and the boys won 52-45.
The girl's game started out good for BHS. Bartlesville (0-1) led throughout much of the first and second quarter, despite senior Haley Tucker being held to single digit scoring in the 1st and 2nd quarters. But a run at the end of the 2nd quarter gave the defending 6A State Champion Lady Tigers the lead for good.
Bartlesville trailed Broken Arrow (6-0) by about 10 for most of the 2nd half, but a run from the Lady Bruins at the mid-point of the fourth quarter got Bartlesville back to within five, but the Lady Bruins would get no closer.
On the guys side, it was almost a wire-to-wire victory for Bartlesville. The Bruins led by 8 for the majority of the ballgame. BA got as close as one point down the stretch, but clutch stops and shots sealed the deal. Bartlesville now has a three-game winning streak, and improves to 4-0 on the year.
