Barnsdall's Gilbert Achieves Incredible Feat
An area coaching legend achieved an incredible milestone earlier this month. Barnsdall softball coach Joe Gilbert earned his 3,900 win across the several sports he’s coached in his 65-year career.
Gilbert earned the landmark win in the Panthers defeat of Woodland on September 1. Since then he’s added five more wins to put himself at 3,905 for his career, according to the Tulsa World.
Gilbert has won over 1,000 fast pitch softball games in his career. He also still serves as the girls’ basketball coach where he isn’t far short of the century mark. Gilbert also has coached baseball, slow pitch softball and briefly football to contribute to his illustrious coaching career.
Gilbert has coached at Barnsdall since 1954. The Lady panthers stand at 9-17 this season.
