Barnsdall Boys On The Rise

The Barnsdall boys basketball team picked up its fourth win in five games on Tuesday night, beating Copan 58-32. The win improves the Panthers to 8-9, and puts Cliff Warford's club on the rise going into the final two weeks of the regular season.

Barnsdall played well on Tuesday, beating Copan for the second time in five days. The Panthers had matched up against the Hornets in the Caney Valley Tournament in Ramona the weekend prior. Warford says he thought his guys played better on Tuesday.

Much of the improvement for Barndall can be attributed toward Spencer Wilson. Wilson was named to the all-tournament team in the Caney Valley tournament. He also hit seven three-pointers and scored 27 points against Copan on Tuesday. Brandon Marshall is starting to shoot it better, too. Having both those guys heat up is good news for the Hornets.

Warford says he thinks his guys are peaking at the right spot. Barnadall only has five games left on its regular schedule going into Friday night's game against Caney Valley. Warford says he likes where his guys are. They are buying in and gelling as planned.

Despite the improvement, there is always room to get better. Warford says he wants his guys to focus on rebounding down the stretch. His guys have also struggled to finish a few games where he thought they had a good chance to win.

Getting tougher on the glass and closing out games is the task going forward. Despite those couple of issues, Warford says the team has improved quite a bit since the beginning of the year in many areas and he looks forward to the playoffs.
