Barnes, Ironmen Hope to Take Rivalry Trophy

The Nowata Ironmen are looking to reverse their fortunes in the third annual ‘Battle for the Adam Hooper Trophy’. Ever since the rivalry took on the name of the late broadcasting legend the Ironmen have yet to take home the plaque. In total, Nowata has lost its last three contests to Dewey. Senior fullback and defensive end Dillon Barnes says it will be very impactful for his class to get a victory.

Barnes had success in the rivalry last year as he ran for over 100 yards. Last week against Oklahoma Union Barnes scooped up a fumble and later scored a rushing touchdown in the 26-12 loss. Ironmen head coach Chris Messner says the team wasn’t far from a victory last week.

The Ironmen will look for their first win over Dewey since 2015. Join us for the Tri-County Tech tailgate starting at 5 p.m. in the NHS parking lot. KRIG 104.9 FM will broadcast with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
