Area Schools Stay in Same Classification

The Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association released its Average Daily Membership numbers on Wednesday afternoon.

The enrollment number determine what classification high schools in Oklahoma compete in for athletics. 

Looking at Northeast Oklahoma area schools, most would stay in their current classification. Dewey will stay in class 3A. Dewey High is ranked as the no. 142 biggest high school in the state.

Nowata, Caney Valley, Pawhuska and Oklahoma Union will all be 2A schools.

Oklahoma Union is the smallest 2A school in the area, the Cougars were about 11 students from dropping to class A. Barnsdall will remain in Class A, Meanwhile Copan and South Coffeyville will play eight-man football in lower classifications.

20. Bartlesville - 1,721 students (6A-II Football)

57. Collinsville - 812 students (5A)

61. Skiatook - 725 students (5A)

85. Oologah-Talala - 556 students (4A)

142. Dewey - 347 students (3A)

193. Nowata - 245 students (2A)

199. Caney Valley - 231 students (2A)

210. Pawhuska - 210 students (2A)

217. Oklahoma Union - 201 students (2A)

287. Barnsdall - 138 students (A)

360. South Coffeyville - 91 students (B)

412. Copan - 69 students (B)
