The process of creating a Hazard Mitigation Plan is time-consuming.  Officials, staff and employees from Washington County, the city of Bartlesville, the BPSD and several other communities have been meeting once a month since the beginning of this year in order to create a five-year plan.  Hazard mitigation consultant Ron Flanagan has been the guiding hand in the process.

Flanagan said that hr's not sure if the municipalities involved in the project will open it up to the general public but expects that decision to be made in the near future.  A Hazard Mitigation Plan is required for FEMA assistance in times of natural disaster.
