UPDATE: Drinking water is available across from City Hall.  Residents should being containers.  Crews are slowly raising the water pressure at this time.

A boil water advisory is in effect in Caney, Kansas, until further notice.  The Kansas Department of Health and Environment issued the public water supply advisory on Thursday, July 2nd at 8 P.M.  The advisory was issued as a result of a loss of adequate pressure in Caney's water supply.  A loss of chlorine residuals and bacterial contamination can result from inadequate pressure.  Some things you should do to avoid contamination include boiling water for one minute prior to drinking or food preparation, or use bottled water.  Dispose of ice cubes and don't use ice from a household automatic ice-maker.  To disinfect dishes and other food contact services, use one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water.  For more information on avoiding contamination and to find out when the advisory is lifted, visit http://www.caneyks.com/boil-order/
