After spending several weeks going over the 2015-2016 budget, the Bartlesville City Council Monday night approved the budget as presented.  The budget is similar to last year includes no compensation increases, service reductions, and no utility increases.  The main funding source for the City receives is sales tax.  City officials predict that sales tax will be flat in 2016.  City Manager Ed Gordon has proposed a sales tax increase, which has to be approved by voters.  The last time Bartlesville passed a sales tax increase was in 1987.  A proposed one-half sales tax increase would generate $2.5 million dollars a year.  Administrative Director/CFO Mike Bailey explained what the additional dollars could do.  The city council also approved the Capital Improvements Program budget for fiscal year 2015-2016 as presented.  The budget includes wastewater projects, equipment and facilities, parks, and street projects.
