Candidate for Principal Chief of Cherokee Nation Lists His Initiatives

A former Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation was in Bartlesville Monday morning to talk about why he should again be elected to the position. Chad Smith was Chief from 1999 until 2011, when he was ousted by current Chief Bill John Baker. Smith says that Baker has taken the Cherokee Nation off track.

Smith was at the Painted Horse Monday morning and brought first time candidate for the District 12 Tribal Council seat, Dora Smith-Patzkowski, along with. She said her main focus are the elders and the children.

 

The Cherokee elections take place on June 27th
