The half-penny city sales tax voted on in Owasso in January is being put to good use. More than 75 percent of voters said “yes” to the increase which will be used to hire new police officers, firefighters and to make street repairs. The Owasso Police Department is accepting applications from qualified applicants.

People who have already been certified by the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training will have a head start on those who have not. The hiring process for those that are certified is expected to be four to five months. Those without certification could take twice as long. The information and qualifications for the available opening can be found by visiting the Owasso Police Department's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Owasso-Police-Department/55136998923?fref=ts
