Fatal Nowata County Accident Early Saturday Morning

A Coweta woman died as a result of massive injuries when the car she was riding in was involved in an  early Saturday morning accident.  The Oklahoma Highway Patrol report 47 year-old Bruce Bannon of Owasso was driving a pickup southbound on U. S 169 at about 1:30 Saturday morning nearly 250 feet south of the Nowata city limits.    His truck went off the road to the right, came back on the roadway and hit a car driven by 27 year-old John Watchorn of Coweta head on. 

Nowata EMS took Bannon to Tulsa's St. Johns Hospital wher he was admitted in stable condition with head, leg, and internal injuries.  Wathorn was treated at St. Johns and released in good condition wtih head and leg injuries.  His passenger, 27 year-old Jamie Bowlin, also of Coweta, died at the scene from massive injuries.  A 2 year-old passenger in the car was treated and released from St. Johns Hospital in good condition.

Bowlin's body was taken to the Stumpff-Nowata Funeral Home.

The report indicates that the accident remains under investigation but there was an odor of alcohol on Bannon.
