Memorial Day is more than a three day weekend that kicks off the beginning of summer. A few years after the Civil War, May 30th was established as “Declaration Day,” a day to plant flowers on veteran's graves. Memorial Day was officially declared a national holiday in 1971 and moved to the last Monday in May. State Representative Earl Sears invites everyone to honor veterans on Monday, May 25th.

Celebrate and remember those that have served our country.
