Law enforcement officers will be participating in the annual “Click it or Ticket” campaign through the end of May. Officers will be cracking down on drivers not properly buckled up according to state law.

Oklahoma law requires front seat drivers and passengers to wear a seat belt at all times. Children ages 12 and under are required to be buckled in proper car seats according to their height and weight. Lieutenant Troy German, Occupant Protection Coordinator for the state of Oklahoma, said law enforcement will be out.

According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, seat belts save about 13,000 lives each year. For more information, visit www.ohso.ok.gov
