The old Bruin Fieldhouse was rocking again on Friday evening, as the Bartlesville boys and girls basketball teams spit their two games with Muskogee.

The girls lost first, 51-36, in a game that was closer than the final score would indicate. Despite holding Hailey Tucker to less than 20 points, Muskogee led BHS by only four midway through the third quarter. However, a second half run from the Roughers spelled disaster for the Lady Bruins.

Tucker finished with 15 points. Rachel Behar added six. Bartlesville drops to 9-8 on the season.

Muskogee improves to 15-2, and will likely hang on to its top spot on the 6A OSSAA rankings on Monday.

It was only 25-18 Muskogee at half, and a BHS run cut the Rougher lead to 26-22 for a brief spot. However, a seven-nothing run for the Roughers started the ball rolling for MHS.

Muskogee led 36-22 going into the fourth quarter.

The boys game was closely contested, as one would think after the Roughers and Bruins went into overtime on Jan. 23 in Midwest City, but It was a different result. BHS won 46-43 in double overtime, avenging the loss to Muskogee earlier in the year.

Skipping to the fourth quarter, Muskogee led 38-36 with 3:46 remaining and had led throughout the final two quarters. Bartlesville tied the game at 38-all with 2:37 left. The score would remain the same for the final minutes, and a possession from the Bruins with less than 10-seconds remaining went for not, and there was another overtime game.

Both teams traded making one free throw in the first overtime. BHS got a good look from Barron Tanner, who had a jump hook bounce off the rim as time expired, and there was a double overtime.

In double overtime, Muskogee jumped out to a four-point lead. A free throw from Antonio Castillo cut the lead to three. Muskogee missed two three throws, leading 43-40 with less than 50 seconds remaining. BHS nearly turned the ball over, but a loose ball ended up in Castillo's hands in the corner. The senior hit a three to tie the game at 43.

After a Muskogee turnover, nearly seconds later, BHS ended up with the ball again with less than 30 seconds left. Castillo dribbled to the right of the key and hit a step back three-pointer with .6 seconds left to give Bartlesville the final margin of victory.

The boys improve to 11-6. The Bruins have now won six of their last seven games.

Both teams next play at Jenks on Tuesday, Feb. 3. You can listen to both those games on KWON 1400 AM, 93.3 FM.

Here is a full schedule with results for both teams.
