Oklahoma has become the second state in the nation to have an average statewide gas price fall below $2 per gallon.

Triple A spokesman Michael Green says the statewide average price for gas in the state on Saturday was $1.997. On Friday, Missouri became the first state with an average gas price below $2 per gallon since 2009 when the statewide average dipped to $1.98.

Green says the nationwide average has dropped for 93 days in a row, the longest streak since AAA started keeping daily records in January 2000. Gas prices are about 94 cents a gallon lower than they were a year ago.

Green says motorists are spending $450 million a day less on gasoline than they did during the spring and summer when prices exceeded $3 a gallon.
