In its meeting Monday evening, The Dewey City Council heard more good news from its city manager. Kevin Trease was pleased to announce what hew believes to be a record for The City of Dewey, sales tax returns equaling more than 80 thousand dollars. The exact amount, $80, 225.56 represents a nearly 16% increase from the same month last year and puts the city at almost 10% above the year to date tax return.

When asked where he thinks this money is coming from, Trease is not completely sure, but points to businesses moving and relocating in Dewey.

Looking to the future, Trease is cautiously optimistic.

This is one of what is hoped to be a series of high points on the roller coaster for Dewey, just six months ago they were receiving no use tax and were discussing possible budget tightening measures.
