Unemployment Rates Increase

State labor officials say unemployment rates increased last month in 72 of Oklahoma's 77 counties.  The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission on Wednesday released county and metropolitan area unemployment information.  The report shows that Washington, Nowata, and Osage counties saw their unemployment rates increase.  Nowata County's unemployment rate for June is 6.4 percent, up from six percent in May.  Osage County's unemployment rate for June is 5.7 percent, up from 5.6 percent in May while Washington County's rate for June stands at four percent, up from 3.8 percent in May.
 
The statewide unemployment rate in June was 4.5 percent, well below the national average of 6.1 percent.
