Osage Nation Removes John Red Eagle as Chief
Osage Nation Chief John Red Eagle has been removed from office as a result of the decision of the jury in his removal trial. The Osage Nation Congress, acting as the jury in the trial found Red Eagle guilgy on five of the six allegations against him. Each of the guilty verdicts passed by at least the required 5/6 margin. The jury further disqualified Red Eagle from ever holding elected office in the Osage Nation in the future.
Scott Big Horse was appointed Osage Nation Chief. Big Horse will hold the office through the remainder of the term. The next election is scheduled for August.
