Select Committee Still Out
After several weeks of intense investigation by a select committee looking into possible ethics violations by Osage Nation Principal Chief John Red Eagle, that committee is still working on their findings. Appointed by Osage Supreme Court Justice Meredith Trent, the five member committee conducting the investigation was expected to have their report ready today for the Osage Nation Congress to take up, but that didn’t happen. Roseanne Sutton with the Osage Nation Attorney General’s office spoke about the procedure. Sutton also said that Osage Nation Congress Speaker Raymond Red Corn while speaking to this session’s congress said that the special committee’s report will be ready when it’s ready. Chief Red Eagle did not appear today as was anticipated due to the death of his sister. For the complete list of motions handed down by the Select Committee of Inquiry, click here.
