Brown Will Stop Lawsuits
Dusten Brown of Nowata says he will stop trying to gain custody of his biological daughter, Veronica. The announcement ends a legal battle that stretched across two states and dragged on for nearly four years.
Brown and the Cherokee Nation called a Thursday morning press conference and announced that they would drop their appeals with the Oklahoma Supreme Court. The Tulsa World quotes Brown as saying it was no longer fair for Veronica to be in the middle of the battle. The decision came 17 days after Brown handed the his biological daughter over to Matt and Melody Capabianco of Charleston, South Carolina. Assistant Cherokee Nation District Attorney, Chrissi Nimmo says they lost the battle and it is in Veronica's best interest for the litigation to end and the healing to begin.
