Bartlesville School Board Hears from Principals
The Bartlesville School Board held special meetings Tuesday and Wednesday to hear from each school's principal. School Board President Doug Divelbiss explains that these presentations are a good way for principals to tell the board how well the district's strategic plan is working. The primary part of each principal's presentation centered around the state required test scores. As a whole, the Bartlesville Schools did very well with some schools showing double digit improvement from last year's test scores with minimal drops in scores compared to last year. Divelbiss says he is pleased with the scores. Changes in cut scores was a topic of discussion in both meetings. The changes to the cut score for the last round of tests was made after the testing was complete, giving the district a moving target. Divelbiss says that while he understands that the state has good reasons for the changes, he wishes the changes would be less drastic and decided on before the tests. The next Board of Education meeting is scheduled for October 21 at 5:30 PM in the Education Service Center.
