It is the summer months for athletic departments across the area, which can sometimes mean facility improvements, as school districts work to get ready for the 2023-24 school year and athletic seasons.

At Bartlesville High one of the most notable athletic upgrades for this upcoming season will be a new video board at Custer Stadium. We reported on this several months ago. The video board will be paid for with advertising dollars and will be ran by the Bartlesville High Sports Media class.

BHS Athletic and Activities Director Thad Dilbeck gives an update on how that project is coming along during the early part of the summer.

The structure of the board will not be started on until much later in the summer, Dilbeck mentioned that it could be August before it comes into view for the public, although work behind the scenes continues now.

Another note, the new video board will be on the south side of the stadium, near the Freshman Academy. The current scoreboard at Custer Stadium will remain just a scoreboard on the north side with improvements.
