A Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) emergency relief claim for County Road 3000 was approved by the Washington County Commissioners on Monday morning.

Bruce Martin, the Division 8 County Bridge Coordinator for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation said this claim is for flood damage CR3000 suffered during the historic flooding event in Washington County in 2019. He said the road runs east from the Walmart Distribution Center near Ramona.

A new road was built as opposed to restoring the roadway to its previous form. Martin said Washington County Commissioner Mike Bouvier will be fully reimbursed for all his labor, and all his equipment and material usage since the work was completed within 180 days. He said the total amount reimbursed to Commissioner Bouvier for replacing County Road 3000 was $99,570.

Kary Cox, the Director for Washington County Emergency Management, said they are starting to receive more and more of their claims from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) that should help with damages suffered from the flooding event that took place in 2019. He said they are continuing to work on the projects over a year after the fact.

Commissioner Mitch Antle said there has been some frustration with the process. He said they initially broke down individual projects after grouping them up, but now they are being asked to re-group the projects again.
