Wednesday will mark the beginning of fall sports across the state, as many student athletes will have their first sanctioned athletic activities with schools since spring break in March.

At Bartlesville High, Lady Bruin volleyball players will be back in action. Many players were able to compete this summer on club teams, however there were no volleyball-specific workouts for BHS until the tryouts last week.

Jennifer Ward is in her second season as head coach, and she says despite the down time, she has been impressed with how in-shape her players are entering the season.

Bartlesville will have a talented core returning for this fall, including standout Mia Otten.

However lineups will have to be reshuffled often, and in order to work on those issues, Bartlesville will begin scrimmaging on Saturday at Sand Springs - after three days of practice.

Ward says getting some more game experience will be important during this preseason.

Bartlesville will begin its 2020 season at home on Aug. 11.

We will have more on Lady Bruin volleyball and other fall sports later on throughout the preseason.
