Area Baseball Star Playing in Unique Summer League

Reps have been limited for anyone looking to play baseball this summer. However, a local pitcher snagged a roster spot in of the few leagues that are playing games. Chase Lorg, a right-handed pitcher and outfielder who played for Collinsville High School is getting a chance to play in minor league ballparks in the unique Texas Collegiate League.

Lorg plays for the Frisco (TX) Roughriders a team that is normally the Double-A affiliate for the Texas Rangers. With the minor league season canceled several of these teams formed the TCL, a league for college players to get reps over the summer. The Tulsa Drillers play in this league as well.

Lorg has made two pitching appearances so far giving up just one run over four total innings and adding four strikeouts. Lorg debuted in Tulsa on July 2. Lorg is currently at Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas. The two-way player had posted a 4-1 record on the mound and a .324 batting average in the college spring season before it was canceled.
