Swimmer Identified in Skiatook Lake Drowning

A water related incident occurred on Memorial Day just before 5:00 p.m. on Skiatook Lake at Tallchief Cove in Osage County.

According to a report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the victim was swimming at the beach boundary line. The swimmer was seen struggling in five and a half feet of water. The victim went under water and did not resurface.

The Oklahoma Highway report states that the Country Corner Fire Department recovered the victim at 6:22 p.m. The OHP notes that it was raining when the incident occurred and no personal floatation devices were used.

The victim was a 17-year-old juvenile male from Hondurus that was pronounced dead at the scene by the Country Corner Fire Department. The victim was transported Ray Fransisco Funeral Home to their funeral home in Tulsa.

The drowning was investigated by Trooper Freeney #227 of the Water Detachment of Troop K. Trooper Hempel #798, Trooper Vann #937 of Troop W, the Osage County Sheriff's Office, the Country Corner Fire Department and the Skiatook Corp assisted with the investigation.
