The Nowata County Commissioners approved a resolution to create an E911 Trust Authority at Monday morning’s meeting. Jerome Gnatek had presented the resolution, which had been on the agenda in subsequent meetings. All county officers had reviewed documents pertaining to the authority and no one had any issues. District one commissioner Burke LaRue says this is a necessary step.

The five-member authority will consist of Gnatek, fire chief Rocky Seals and Nowata police chief Mike McElhaney who currently sit on the E911 board. Also, LaRue and a designee from the sheriff’s office will be members.

The trust authority will act as its own entity separate from the county allowing it to have its own budget and decision making powers.
