An intoxicated driver was the cause of a Friday afternoon traffic accident in Bartlesville. 54-year-old Shelley Dick was the driver of one of the vehicles in a two-car collision.

According to an affidavit, officers responded to the scene near 2200 road and U.S. 75 in Bartlesville around 2:20 p.m. on Friday. Five people involved in the accident received treatment at the Jane Phillips Medical Center.

Officers noted slurred speech when they began asking Dick about what had occurred. During the course of the conversation the female suspect urinated herself. A search of Dick’s vehicle produced four empty cans of beer, a mostly empty bottle of whiskey and two empty daiquiri cans. An empty plastic baggie with methamphetamine residue was also observed on the ground at the scene. Two passengers in the vehicle stated that Dick stopped at a liquor store to purchase the beverages in either Coffeyville or Dewey.

Dick later admitted that she had been drinking that day but denied that she was drinking while driving. She also denied any knowledge of the methamphetamine that was found at the scene. A breath test gave preliminary sample of .176 BAC. Dick was arrested for her role in the accident.
