The Dewey City Council approved the rezoning of two parcels of land the Dewey City Council purchased in a January meeting. City Manager Kevin Trease says they hope to get the land rezoned according to the State of Oklahoma’s recommendations for the land.

Trease said in February that the City of Dewey is looking to rezone the area as an industrial space. He explained then that state law required them to notify residents within 300 feet of the property as to what will take place. Trease also noted that state law requires them to put a sign up for people to read as they pass the property to give everyone an opportunity to know what's going on.

A public hearing will take place Monday, March 18th at Dewey City Hall. Trease said an ordinance could be adopted the same night following the hearing.
