The Senate has passed a Tax Scholarship Bill that will raise the cap for public education and scholarship grants. Bartlesville’s Senator Julie Daniels said they have the public educators interested in the Public Education Improvement Grant side.

She said said the grant caps come in at about $10 million each. She believes there are on-going negotiations to raise those caps since the titles are off to raise those more. That may mean donations may be allowed to go straight to a public school foundation and not a separate 501C3. Daniels said more community can benefit from this possibility.

Also in education, Daniels said the Senate has worked on multi-year contracts for teachers.

She said they have been working to add STEM classes at CareerTech as well. She said that will help them qualify and meet the high school requirements for math and computer science. According to Daniels, STEM programs at CareerTechs are becoming more significant and robust as students take advantage of the opportunities provided to them.
