Two Bartlesville men were arrested after they were found in a vacant house. Michael Lewis and Darrel Thurman both appeared at the Washington County Courthouse on Wednesday facing charges of second degree burglary.

According to an affidavit, the owner of the vacant home on Herrick Avenue in Bartlesville was told by a neighbor that the home was being broken into. The victim reports that the home had been broken into several times recently.

The victim claims that when she arrived at the residence to confront the two men they fled the scene while breaking several items in the house in the process. Police found Lewis a few blocks away and placed him under arrest. Lewis stated the Thurman was the other man with him.

Thurman was also located by police. He stated that he was with Lewis who wanted to show him something at the house. Thurman claims he was leery about entering someone else’s house. Thurman said a short time later they were confronted by the homeowner.

Thurman’s bond was set at $5,000. Lewis saw his bond set at $20,000 due to multiple previous felony convictions. Both are due back in court on March 22.
