Lighting fixtures going up in District 2 of Washington County will receive some work by the weeks end. Commissioner Mike Bouvier oversees the district and sought approval from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation to install LED lighting at 2200, 2300, 2400 and 2900 Road along Highway 75. He said holes will be drilled Friday for some light poles and concrete will be poured afterwards.

He also said light poles will go up near Windle's Rock and Jewelry Shop. According to Bouvier, there was an accident in the area the other night. The driver asked who was responsible for lighting near Windle's after the accident. Bouvier said in light of that, he's happy to be installing lights in that area and further south.

Commissioner Bouvier said the Public Service Company of Oklahoma will take care of the light poles near 2900 Road. Verdigris Valley Electric Cooperative will work on the light fixtures along 2200 and 2300 Road. VVEC will also handle the lights near Windle's. Bouvier said this project will help light up poorly lit intersections along Highway 75 to ensure roadway safety.
