Water Utilities Director Terry Lauritsen said storm water system improvements in downtown Bartlesville will continue this week. He said the project is part of the 2013-2014 Sales Tax Election. The project stretches from Adams Boulevard by the Community Center north to the Caney River.

According to Lauritsen, Bartlesville has a storm water system that carries a lot of water from residential areas to the south and migrates downtown before discharging in the river. He said improvements started last week on the sanitary sewer that has to be relocated. The storm water system will probably begin in early April to help facilitate the Tower Center at Unity Square project as well, Lauritsen said.

He said the final plans for the Tower Center at Unity Square will be discussed during the Tower Green Design Committee meeting Wednesday at noon. Lauritsen added that there will also be a special Bartlesville City Council meeting on Monday, March 18. He said they will do legal things they need to close out rights and to dedicate property. A bid for storm water improvements to facilitate the storm water piece to the Tower Ceneter at Unity Square project will also be discussed.

The City of Bartlesville is also looking to have a contract with Jones Plan for the construction management side of the projects by April 1. Jones Plan should have some budget numbers to show the total costs for improvements. Lauritsen said they hope the improvements and the costs will be in line as they press on.
