7 reports of larceny were called in to the Bartlesville Police Department over the weekend. Police Captain Jay Hastings said Monday that the thefts happened Friday and Saturday night in the areas of 20th and Dewey and 14th and Johnstone.

Hastings said as temperatures rise, the City of Bartlesville may see more activity like this and advised people to lock their doors. He said residents should take valuables out of their vehicles at night as well.

The Bartlesville Police Department, Hastings said, wants to stay on top of the situation and get the word out to the citizens. He said they do not want to tolerate this crime in the community and that they want to catch these people.

Video surveillance is one thing helping them in their investigation. He said video surveillance is information they can feed back to their patrol officers. That gives them the time and place they need to patrol to prevent a crime from happening. One resident had video surveillance of the weekend thefts that observed a subject on a bicycle getting into vehicles between 2:50 and 3:00 AM Saturday.

If you have any information on these crimes, the Bartlesville Police Department asks you to call them at 918.338.4001. You can also call Crime Stoppers at 918.336.2583
