An Ocheleta woman was charged in a domestic incident that took place on Monday. Melissa Pirtle appeared at the Washington County Courthouse on Tuesday facing a misdemeanor count of domestic abuse stemming from the incident.

According to an affidavit, Pirtle’s boyfriend alleged that she had consumed a large amount of alcohol. The male stated that Pirtle returned from the liquor store and started to beat him up. He was unsure as to what prompted her to become violent.

Officers found the male sitting outside the residence with scratches on his hand and blood stains on his pants. Pirtle claims that the man beat her up and injured her hand. She claims that she “would never hurt him.”

District judge Linda Thomas granted the man an emergency protective order. Pirtle saw her bond set at $1,500 with a condition on no contact with the alleged victim.
