The Bartlesville City Council dealt with several business items at Monday night’s meeting. A cluster of three agenda items dealt with wastewater treatment. First, the council heard the final report of the Water Reuse Feasibility Study. Water Utilities Director Terry Lauritsen presented the study to which the council gave its approval. The next steps will be to continue to the expansion of the wastewater treatment facility.

The council also heard a report of compounds of concern in our water supply from University of Oklahoma professor Kyle Murray. Murray stated that additional treatment of water could reduce potentially harmful chemicals, but right now no compounds are present at concerning levels.

The compounds with the most concern come in the category of pharmaceuticals and personal care products. Runoff of agricultural pesticides provides minimal contamination into the city’s water supply. Also, an agreement was approved between the city and Tetra Tech for engineering services for a wastewater pipeline. The cost of the project is estimated at $750,000.

Other agreements approved in the meeting included granting a $150,000 forgivable loan to Custom Molding Services. This will allow the company to immediately purchase and move-in to the old Voice of the Martyrs warehouse on Adeline Avenue. Bartlesville Development Authority president David Wood says this will fill a need in the community.

Finally, an amendment was made to a professional services agreement with Ambler Architects. This agreement adds $11,000 for a canopy to be built as a part of the Tower Center at Unity Square project.
