An effort to raise funds for the American Cancer Society will take place in Dewey on Saturday. The Relay for Life NOW (Nowata, Osage, Washington) program will be holding a Talent Showcase at the Heritage Theater Cafe and Pub to help raise funds that would go toward finding cures to fight cancer.

Antone Dolezal with the program says the event will feature a wide range of talent. He says they put the Talent Showcase together because they wanted to display the diversity of the community and the talents the local community has. Relay for Life did everything they could every weekend leading up to the event to find talent for the event. Dolezal says they also asked the community what they would like to see during the event.

Young musicians from Everett Music Studio and Bartlesville High School will perform at the Talent Showcase. A poetry reading from a local actor and community leader Morris McCorvey will also take place. Paul Beach will kick-off a passionate karaoke challenge during the night too.

The night will end with karaoke and you will be given an opportunity to showcase your vocal talents. A bucket will go around during the Talent Showcase where you will be given an opportunity to make a donation for cancer research. Tickets to the event at the Heritage Theater in Dewey cost $10 at the door and will enter you in for a chance to win a variety of prizes. Anyone person 16 and under can join the fun free of charge. The Saturday, March 9 event will take place from 7 to 10 p.m.

Dolezal and Relay for Life hopes this event will become an annual tradition.
