Gov. Kevin Stitt signed House Bill 2597 Wednesday afternoon into law. House Bill 2597 focuses on Constitutional Carry rights in Oklahoma. Last week Bartlesville's Senator Julie Daniels said people who come into Oklahoma from another state that has Constitutional Carry are allowed to have their guns on them, which essentially gave them more Second Amendment rights than Oklahomans.

Knowing that, she was happy to see Stitt sign House Bill 2597 into law. In one way, she believes they are finally treating Oklahomans equally to the Constitutional Carry rights from other states. She said that she firmly supports the decision by Gov. Stitt.

She added that a Trailer Bill is coming to the Senate from the House in the near future that will look into Constitutional Carry further. She said it focuses on making places like the Gathering Place, Scissortail Park and even the Kiddie Park in Bartlesville a concealed carry area as opposed to an open carry area

Daniels said she has had constituents approach her about the issue of the Kiddie Park in recent weeks, so with the knowledge of the Trailer Bill as of Wednesday, she said she will look into the language of the bill with Senate leadership. She said they will see if they can broaden the definition of the bill and if they can make exceptions to the bill in the future.
