Washington County Sheriff, Scott Owen has selected Lt. Jon Copeland to serve as Undersheriff effective February 1st.  The vacancy was created by Undersheriff Steve Johnson's retirement.

 

Lt. Copeland is a 20 year veteran with Washington County Sheriff's Office and supervises the investigation division as well as working with the three patrol shift supervisors ensuring daily operations flow smoothly.   

 

Lt. Copeland possesses a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and a Master's in Business Administration, from Oklahoma Wesleyan University.

 

Lt. Copeland has facilitated more than 200 active shooter presentations, along with other deputies from the office, since December 2015.  He has been awarded the "Deputy of the Year Award" twice: 2000 and 2016.
