Bartlesville's Senator Julie Daniels files a bill to extend the appointment power Governor Kevin Stitt and future governors have over statutory agencies, board and commissions. Daniels says Senate Bill 270 would allow a governor to replace a gubernatorial appointment at any time.

Daniels says they need to change the way they do government business in Oklahoma. She says Senate Bill 270 will give Governor Stitt and others to hit the ground running with his ideas to improve Oklahoma.

Due to a governor's multi-year staggered terms, a governor may have to wait years before making an appointment. Daniels says a bill similar to Senate Bill 270 made it through the House and the Senate a year ago but died in a conference committee.

According to Daniels, 93-percent of the legislative budget goes to twelve agencies, seven of which are statutory agencies with executive and board positions appointed by the governor. Daniels would go on to say that government accountability starts with SB 270 so Governor Stitt can move Oklahoma forward.
