Believe it or not college basketball season is right around the corner and the Oklahoma Wesleyan men’s basketball team is a group that comes into the 2018-2019 season with lofty expectations. The Eagles were announced as the preseason favorite in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference during media day on Wednesday.

The Eagles return nearly all of their rotation players from a group that went 26-9 last season and qualified for the NAIA national tournament. Eagles head coach Donnie Bostwick is excited for the challenged of being labeled as the top dog in the conference.

OKWU jumps right out of the gate with a challenging non-conference matchup against St. Thomas University, an NAIA Division I from Houston, Texas. OKWU scrimmaged Texas Wesleyan, John Brown University and Jacksonville Junior College in order to prepare for Monday’s opener. Bostwick says his team is ready to get going.

After Monday’s opener, OKWU will host Kansas Christian for homecoming on Oct. 26. Eagle basketball can be heard all season long on 99.1 FM KPGM. The first broadcast will be a marquee matchup against College of the Ozarks on Nov. 1.
