It was another shootout in Ramona, with Dewey outlasting Caney Valley to pick up its second win of the season. The Doggers beat the Trojans 47-20. The game was not always so lopsided, Zane Lorenz of Dewey and Christian Colbert traded rushing touchdowns in the first quarter.

Dewey quarterback Kale Carner threw just two passes in the ball game but made an impact on special teams as he took a kickoff 85 yards to the house. Two plays later Carner intercepted a pass from his counterpart, Colbert. Carner also added a second interception late in the game.

Caney Valley would quickly respond with a passing touchdown to make it 13-12. Lorenz would then score on an option pitch play from 20 yards for his second TD of the game. The Trojans would respond once again with a Colbert rushing touchdown and a two-point conversion to the game at 20-20 in the second quarter.

Kale Carner would add a quarterback sneak touchdown just before half to give the Doggers a 27-20 lead. Lorenz would then put the game on ice with three touchdowns in the second half. Lorenz scored a five-yarder late in the fourth quarter to put the nail in the coffin. He finished with 205 yards and five touchdowns.

The Dewey defense didn’t allow the Trojans to score a single second half point.Dewey is 2-6. The Doggers will have another tough one on the road at Sperry next week.
