Bruin Football Scrimmage Rained Out

Rain and severe weather reeked some havoc on Bartlesville High football’s scrimmage plans on Thursday night.

Broken Arrow had officially cancelled its Kickoff Bash because of the inclement weather in Tulsa area by 5:30 PM.

They moved the teams into the Tiger indoor practice facility for what was technically called a "group practice", but was more of a red zone type of drill against Coweta. Fans and parents were still allowed to watch, and the event provided some good and some bad for the Bruins.

Bartlesville had Noah Sunday and Ben Winters switching back and forth at quarterback with the first string offense. Sunday was last year’s starting QB for BHS, while Winters has been coming on strong in fall camp.

Bartlesville senior running back DeAndre Young was the highlight on offense. Young found the endzone from 21-yards out to give the Bruins a touchdown. Young also had a couple other first down runs.

Nick Tessier and Bryce Gulledge were two wide outs targeted quite a bit in the pass game - both had a few catches.

The Bartlesville defense shined in the beginning, keeping Coweta out of the end zone in their first several drills. Logan Hartman had a sack, and Tom Beard had a several good pass break ups.

Bartlesville will get another chance at a scrimmage type of atmosphere, hopefully outside on a real field, on Thursday, when Tulsa Edison comes to Custer Stadium in Bartlesville.
