Barnsdall Football Looks to Replace QB

Despite losing one of the best players to ever play quarterback in Northeast Oklahoma, Barnsdall is primed to have another solid season in Class A.

The Panthers return 14 of their 22 starters off a playoff team from this past season. However, they lose their longtime starting quarterback James Cole, who was a major play maker the past few years.

The supporting cast should be there, so if the Panthers can get solid quarterback play this fall, they will be a force to be reckoned with once again. The quarterback position may stay in the Cole name as well, with James’ younger brother Joe playing QB this spring. Barnsdall head coach Kylee Sweeney talks about the transition at quarterback.

Barnsdall will be lead by upperclassmen - it has 17 seniors and 15 juniors on this year’s team. The Panthers will again be in Class A District 5 with the likes of Pawhuska, Hominy, Morrison, Tonkowa and others.

Barnsdall will be in team camp next week in Cushing with about 9 other teams.
