The Bartlesville High baseball team dropped an early afternoon contest against Apopka High in Pensacola, Florida, 15-9. The Bruins are now 2-2 on the week during their annual spring break trip to the Sunshine State.

The game was a shootout early on with both teams tallying multiple runs in their first two at-bats. Bartlesville found itself trailing 6-5 after the first two frames.

Reliever Harold Borg would toss a scoreless third inning but Apopka would explode for six runs in the bottom of the fourth. Lack of control on the mound was a major detriment for the Bruins who walked four hitters in the blowup inning.

The Bruins offense saw some breakout performers yet again. Calvin Johnson went 5-for-5 with two RBIs, while Jakob Hall, Grant Yardley and Noah Yearout each added three hits.

Bartlesville will begin Oklahoma play again on Monday with a road game at Union. KWON – AM 1400 and FM 93.3 will also start its coverage of Bruin baseball on the radio next week.
