State education leader Joy Hofmeister will speak to a public meeting prior to answering questions in Bartlesville on Friday afternoon.  Public Education Advocates for Kids, or PEAK sponsors the event scheduled from 1:30 to 2:30 at the Tri County Tech event center.

Hofmeister is Oklahoma’s superintendent of public instruction.  She is expected to make brief remarks and then take questions submitted by parents, teachers, and students.

A panel of three local residents will be asking the questions. Panelists are 7th-grade teacher at Central Middle School and parent of two children, Brian Davis;  principal of Madison Middle School and parent of two children, Joey Eidson; and Bartlesville High School senior, Greta Olsen, who is an outstanding athlete as well as a National Merit Semifinalist.

The event is part of a day-long visit to Bartlesville by the superintendent.  She will meet with area school district administrators, local media, and the general public. The visit was arranged through the efforts of former State Senator John Ford.  We will speak with the superintendent on AM 1400 and 93.3 FM, KWON Friday morning at 9:30.
