Dewey Public Schools released a statement Friday on health issues that are related to several students. Superintendent Vince Vincent says that these issues have dated back to September, and that medical attention has been given since.

Vincent says that he can not speak on exactly what symptoms have been shown, but that every student has seen a different a little bit different of symptoms along the same lines. Vincent did say, however, that some students have experienced Conversion Disorder, which is a response to stress and anxiety. Several Facebook and social media posts have claimed that students are experiencing seizures. While Vincent could not give an exact number, he did confirm that less than 20 students have been affected.

Vincent says several organizations have been contacted, such as the county heath department, for advice on how to proceed and what to do. However, there was no clear path to go on without a cause for the incidents.

Vincent wanted to make sure that parents knew that the district still believes the schools to be safe, and they want students to feel safe and be safe.
