In the wake of the decision by the Bartlesville Tax Increment District Review Committee to vote down the recommendation of the Bartlesville Retirement Community Plan a public hearing was held at the meeting of the Bartlesville city council.

The public hearing lasted nearly 30 minutes with several concerned citizens and interested parties sharing their opinions on the project. The biggest conglomerate came from citizens who owned property on Lincoln Road, which neighbors the proposed project.

Matt Tranquill spoke for his neighbors.

Many people, including the head of the project, Dr. Jerry Rees spoke in favor of the project during the public comment portion of the meeting that preceded the agenda items.

Nate Ellis from the Public Finance Law Group stated that even though the review committee did not recommend the project the council can still go forward with the plan.

Here is Ellis explaining the process.

More will be heard on this project at the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Bartlesville City Council on November 6.
