The Tax Increment District Review Committee of The City of Bartlesville held a special meeting on Monday afternoon. In the almost two hour meeting, the committee heard from the public regarding the creation of a new tax increment district and approval of the Bartlesville Retirement Community Economic Development Project Plan.

Several members of the public spoke in opposition of the project, totaling more than 45 minutes worth of comments. During which, a market study was discussed that some members of the public claimed that they did not have the details. Joel Rabin opposed the study.

Chairman Alan Gentges moved along with the meeting after some time, where the committee then discussed the recommendation in the plan. Several comments, questions, statements, and some math later, and the meeting began to get out of hand with some disagreements, so Chairman Gentges gained order, asked for each members amendments, and asked for a vote. In the end, Only Gentges and Mike Dunlap voted “Yes” for the recommendation, and every other member voted “no.”

With the resolution failing, the committee would not recommend to the Bartlesville City Council that the city create a tax increment district and approve the Bartlesville Retirement Community Project Plan.
