This week at the meeting of the Pawhuska City Council, Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority or OMPA representative Drake Rice provided an OMPA update. Rice stated that OMPA is serving and providing power for 42 cities across Oklahoma, and with the recent improvements to their power systems they should not experience any supply shortages in the near future. Rice also said that the City should only expect to see an marginal increase to costs effective January 1, 2017, approximately .04 percent.

Rice also stated that OMPA individual customers may request a Residential Energy Audit during which a representative will test a residence to see where energy savings can be made. Rice told the council that the most common and efficient way for customers to decrease their energy consumption is to improve their attic insulation. Residential customers may apply for the Program on-line at http://ompa.com/

Rice also announced that OMPA has began purchasing power from Wind Farms in Grant County however the increase in the power supply will not be available until 2020. The Pawhuska City Council will meet again for a Special Meeting on December 19, at noon to hold a Public Hearing.
